You know that song you only hear around this exact time of year about a guy who meets up with an old love interest on Christmas Eve, laughs and cries with her, helps out with her groceries, can't find an open bar, so they drink a six-pack in the car, and then go back to their old, boring lives? The guy who wrote and sings that song died this morning. He might also be responsible for a famous wedding song that, ahem, some of us might have had in a wedding or two, that little holiday diddy will live on. If the spirit should move you, like it does Ricky Gervais...
OKC's Sam Presti is an overrated draft savant

Big $$.$$ for anyone who had this one coming in 2007 death pool.
This one was out of nowhere, unless you really did your homework. Turns out he had colon cancer for some time. Things the gambling community should know about...
I hold Dan Fogelburg's greatest hits in my hand. I've never been very familiar with his stuff but I always do what Dirty Laundry tells me to, so I'm checking out your picks.
Uhm, you have a copy of that CD right now, in your hands? See, dying is the best way to increase sales. I hope the music industry is paying attention.
I don't think all of those songs would necessarily be on your disc or not, but I linked to each of them through itunes.
I had a Fogelberg source close at hand. I bought nothing.
When do we make our picks for the 2008 Dirty Laundry death pool challenge anyhow? ( all proceeds of course go to the family members of the deceased)
That's a great idea. I think we should take picks from our regular readers (both of them) and post them up, and then come back at the end of the year and have a grand prize for the winner.
I think one of the first picks will be for Dick Vitale. I don't think he's got much left, and ESPN is billing this surgery of his as something serious. Either him or that Blair teacher that got busted for "Pulling A Lemon" on one of his students.
How about a 10 Pick, with a bonus 11th pick being a Blairite current or former. 10 pick being ranked 1-10, with points rewarded on a rank system, and a 10 point bonus for any death to someone under 50. Of course if you contribute to the individuals death you will be automatically disqualified. Any other ground rules we have to lay out. Points system or draft...etc...
